Heel Pain & Plantar Fasciitis

Heel pain is one of the most common foot complaints, often caused by plantar fasciitis — inflammation of the thick band of tissue connecting your heel bone to your toes.

What Causes Heel Pain?

Heel pain can result from a variety of factors. Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause, but other conditions such as heel spurs, Achilles tendinopathy, and nerve entrapment can also contribute. Risk factors include prolonged standing, improper footwear, sudden increases in activity, tight calf muscles, and being overweight.

Common Symptoms

  • Sharp pain in the bottom of the heel, especially with the first steps in the morning
  • Pain that worsens after prolonged standing or sitting
  • Aching or burning sensation in the arch of the foot
  • Stiffness and tenderness in the heel area
  • Pain that increases with activity and decreases with rest

How We Can Help

Our chiropodists will conduct a thorough biomechanical assessment to identify the underlying cause of your heel pain. Based on the findings, a personalized treatment plan may include custom orthotics, stretching and strengthening exercises, shockwave therapy, footwear recommendations, and activity modifications.
