Ingrown Toenails

Safe and effective treatment for painful ingrown toenails from our registered chiropodists.

What are Ingrown Toenails?

An ingrown toenail occurs when the edge of the nail grows into the surrounding skin, causing pain, redness, swelling, and sometimes infection. This condition most commonly affects the big toe.

Causes include improper nail trimming, tight footwear, injury, genetic predisposition, or naturally curved nails. Without treatment, ingrown toenails can lead to infection and more serious complications.

Treatment Options

Conservative Treatment

For mild cases, we may trim the nail edge carefully and provide guidance on proper nail care to prevent recurrence.

Partial Nail Avulsion

A minor procedure performed under local anesthesia to remove the ingrown portion of the nail. This provides relief while preserving most of the nail.

Permanent Correction

For recurrent ingrown toenails, we may recommend a procedure to prevent regrowth of the problematic nail edge.
